Every trip your money can buy

Terms of Service

Last updated 08 September 2026

These terms govern your use of WanderCost (the “Service”), operated by WanderCost (“we”, “us”). By using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. What WanderCost is — and is not

WanderCost is an informational planning tool. It estimates what a trip might cost and shows destinations that may fit a stated budget.

WanderCost is not a travel agency, tour operator, or seller of travel. We do not sell, arrange, reserve, or book travel. We do not take payment from you, hold your money, or act as your agent. When you follow a link to a booking provider, any transaction is solely between you and that provider, under their terms.

2. Estimates are estimates

This is the most important thing on this page. Every cost figure on the Service is an estimate produced by a model, not a quote, offer, or guarantee. Figures are derived from route distances, seasonal patterns, and generalised cost data. They are frequently wrong in either direction.

Each destination shows a confidence range. A wider range means we are less certain. Some destinations are priced from country-level averages rather than city-level research, and are labelled as such.

Real prices change constantly and depend on timing, availability, operator, and choices you make. You should independently verify every cost before committing money to a trip. Do not rely on the Service as your only source when making a financial decision.

3. Travel requirements and safety are yours to check

Any information shown about visas, entry rules, pet import requirements, seasons, or destination suitability is general, may be out of date, and is not advice. Requirements change without notice and vary by nationality, purpose, and individual circumstance.

You are responsible for confirming passport and visa requirements, health and vaccination rules, pet import regulations, insurance needs, and current safety conditions with official sources — for US travellers, the US Department of State and the CDC.

We exclude some destinations from results based on general criteria. Exclusion is not a safety certification of anything we do show, and inclusion is not a recommendation that travel there is safe or advisable for you.

4. Affiliate links

Some outbound links are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission if you book through them at no additional cost to you. This never affects which destinations we show or how results are ranked — ranking is produced by the cost model before any partner is involved. See How we make money.

5. Third-party sites

We do not control booking partners or other linked sites and are not responsible for their content, prices, availability, terms, privacy practices, or conduct. Your dealings with them are entirely between you and them.

6. Acceptable use

Please do not: scrape or bulk-download the Service, use automated systems to place unreasonable load on it, attempt to gain unauthorised access, resell or redistribute our cost data as your own, or use the Service unlawfully.

7. Intellectual property

The Service's design, text, code, and cost model are ours and protected by copyright. Underlying factual data — including airport and route information — comes from open sources and is not claimed by us.

8. No warranty

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any estimate will prove accurate.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of money, bookings, travel opportunities, or data, arising from your use of the Service or reliance on any estimate it produces.

Because the Service is free and we receive no payment from you, our total aggregate liability to you for any claim relating to the Service is limited to one hundred US dollars ($100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

10. Changes

We may modify the Service or these terms at any time. Material changes will be reflected in the “last updated” date above. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in California.
